You know how much I adore a city break – travelling to a new country, a new city. Being able to immerse yourself in the country and culture and explore the beautiful new surroundings. Edinburgh is just the best city to be able to go to and explore – with so much to see, so much to do, it’s so full of possibilities.
When it comes to city break travel essentials, there are certain things I just could not be without. So here are my top city break essentials you need for your next trip.

A Trench Coat
I find city breaks require a lot more layers – especially if it’s in the Uk and especially if it’s in spring. A comfortable long coat is key in wrapping up and keeping warm but being able to layer underneath and strip off if it gets too warm. It’s also great at being able to style up or style down so you don’t end up overpacking loads of different outer wear layers that you don’t need.
Comfortable Shoes
You are going to be doing a lot of walking on a city break. So leave the heels at home and pack your favourite trainers – trust me, your feet will thank you for it!
Capsule Skincare and Makeup
I don’t like to go overboard with my skincare or my makeup when I am away, so try and whittle it down to your absolute capsule collections. For skincare – just an eye cream, a serum and a moisturiser will do. And for makeup, keep it light, keep it fresh and keep it comfortable.
