How to Transition A Midi Dress From Winter Into Spring

If there’s one item that is an absolute staple in my wardrobe, it’s gorgeous midi dress. An absolute classic and a piece that never dates, never goes out of style and never wavers.

And if there’s one thing that makes me happy, it’s getting my cost per wear out of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe – styling them in many different ways, wearing them often and creating loads of different looks from just one piece.

So today I’m gonna show you just how versatile a midi dress can be and how to transition is from winter, all the way into spring.

For winter

For the winter look, you’re going to want to start with some great base layers – thermals, tights or vests. They’re going to keep you super warm under the dress without detracting from the outfit itself.

Then add a pair of knee high boots. Again, for warmth.

A longline wool coat is an absolute classic – it will elongate your body, join together with the length of the dress and of course, keep you nice and warm over the top. Finish the look with a cross body bag to tie the whole outfit in together and you’ve got a gorgeous winter fit.

For Transitioning

When the weather starts to warm up ever so slightly, you can make such small changes to make the dress still work. Firstly ditch the thermals and change knee high boots to ankle boots. This way it’ll keep your feet warm but still give you some breathing space with your legs. It’s also great to look for a lighter tone or colour to bring in those spring vibes.

For the outer piece, a cashmere jumper over your shoulders is my fave way to keep myself warm when I don’t need a coat.

Finish the look with a bag with natural vibes – raffia or straw are great options to bring in the spring vibes.

For Spring

Now that the weather has fully warmed up and the sun is shining, it’s time for the simplest look. We’re ditching the boots altogether and going for a pair of trainers (or even sandals when it gets really warm). Finish the look with a mini cross body bag in a light, tonal colour and you’ve got the perfect spring look!

It really does go to show how super simple it can be to get more wear out of your wardrobe throughout the different seasons.
