My home is such a passion project of mine. Looking into interior and decor and ways that I can make it feel like home is so important to me – regardless of how big or small it is, there’s always room to make your home look beautiful.
I always get questions about where I get my inspiration from and how I make my home look beautiful – especially as a renter. I think there’s such a misconception that you have to own your home for it to ever look the way you want it. I’m such a big believer that you can always use little tips and tricks to make any space look beautiful- rented or owned.
So I though today I would share my favourite tips for making your home Pinterest worthy and loving the space you’re in.
Make A Mood Board
One of my favourite things about pinterest is how easy it is to collate pictures of inspiring interiors. However, I also recommend creating your own mood board, room for room, of what you want the space to look like. I sometimes struggle to visualise how a space will come together without some form of mood board in front of me so that I can see the furniture and decorative pieces styled up together.
Find Your Home’s Style
It might be a bit of an odd thing to say that your home has a style, but moving from location to location, I have discovered that every space has its own style. I adore a lot of different styles – I love old farmhouse styles, I love Ibiza style, I love a Southern Californian style…. the list goes on. However I have discovered that some spaces suit some styles better. As much as I adore a farmhouse vibe, the flat that I am in is very modern and sleek – not very fitting to an old farmhouse style. So I’ve embraced my flat’s personal style and thrown myself into the LA/ Southern Californian vibe. Having a ‘theme’ of sorts helps to create a really cohesive vibe around my flat and allows me to reflect my personal style into a style that works in my space.
Experiment with Accessories
As much as accessories finishing off an outfit, they also finish off a room. I always think of furniture as the base of the room and the accessories are what really reflect your style. Try adding a rug to make a room look longer, or a mirror to make it bigger. Get creative with what you put on the walls and experiment with styles that you love.
