Well there’s a blogpost title that I don’t think any of us expected to see here on PetiteElliee. The queen of the neutrals. The queen of the all black outfits. The queen of not having an ounce of colour in her wardrobe.
But here we are. Adding colour into our wardrobe. I know.
This spring I have seriously embraced the colour life and have been adding in pops here and there into my wardrobe so I thought I would share my top tips for adding colour into your wardrobe, especially if you’re normally a neutral girl like me.
Start with a neutral base
Sounds like a bit of a contradiction, doesn’t it? To add colour you need to start with a neutral base. But one of my favourite things about having a neutral wardrobe is just how easy it is to add colour into it because the colours work well together and flow with each other.
The Pop
I love to go for a monochromatic outfit and just add one item with a bit of colour to really make that item pop. All black with a pop of orange, all white with a pop of pink or all neutral with a pop of blue. That pop is such a statement, such a feature of the outfit and such a gorgeous way to add colour to your wardrobe.
Keep Your Outfit Simple
One of the things that I love about adding pops of colour into your wardrobe is just how much it can elevate an outfit. So I find that keeping your look a bit more simple and understated gives the colour piece a great opportunity to shine.
