I have always been a neutral lover – the queen of the neutrals if you will. I adore having a very cohesive wardrobe of beiges and whites and browns and stones. I love how neutrals make me look and feel so put together and sophisticated.
So who would that thought that quarantine could change me into a colour convert?
Ever since we went into lockdown, I have been gravitating so much more towards coloured pieces over my normal neutrals. I’ve been adding a pop of lilac here, lemon there, the occasional sage green here and dusty blue there. And I’ve been loving it.
Every online shop I do I’m adding more colour into my basket each time, it started off with a few toned-down pastel colours but I’m adding in more and more. I think a big part of the shift in my preference is due to the lack of stimulation – we can’t go out and live our normal colourful lives, so instead I’m bringing that colour into my wardrobe. I’m reflecting the season by adding in pops of pastel and brighter colours. I’m reflecting the weather outside and bringing inside – into my wardrobe and into my outfit choices.
I’m bringing in a bit of spring to my otherwise spring-less life.
I wander if my preferences are going to change back when we come out of lockdown and if I’m going to revert back to my normal neutral ways, but for now I’m really enjoying this little bit of colourful fun that I’ve been adding into my wardrobe.
What things have you noticed that you’ve been changing since lockdown?
