If you’re anything like me when you travel, then chances are you have about 3 bags, half the contents of your wardrobe and a ‘heavy’ sticker stamped to your case. Let’s just say – I don’t travel lite. I like having options and I like knowing that if there’s something I need, chances are I’ll have it in one of my over-packed cases.
One of the questions I always get asked is how do I stay organised when I travel. As I’ve been travelling a great deal more, I’ve learned some hard lessons in organisation and have found some seriously good tricks at keeping organised during my many travels.
Outfit plan
Organisation needs to start way before your travel, and outfit planning is one of the biggest things for me. There’s no point in bringing 100 pieces which don’t match, won’t go together and end up not being worn. If you (roughly) plan your outfits according to which activity your doing in which day, I promise your life will be so much easier.
Invest in pieces that will help
I am the first person to tell you how helpful investing in organisational pieces is – I’m so excited about the new Stackers travel collection which has just launched. Whether you’re just having a day out, a long weekend or a full blown 2 week holiday, their travel items are such an amazing life changer!
Travel Jewellery Box – These are my personal faves and something I never travel without. I like to take a lot of jewellery away with me so that I can mix up outfits and accessories – so having somewhere that I can store them properly means that I can transport them their safely and in the best condition (no spending hours detangling necklaces!)
Cable Tidy Bags – Every tech girl’s dream!! As a blogger, I need to bring a great deal of tech with me – I’m talking chargers, cameras, SD’s cards, spare batteries… the list goes on. So having one bag that I can keep it all in, protected and safe, is a serious game changer.
Packing Cubes
I had never seen the use in packing cubes until quite recently – and I can’t begin to tell you how much they have changed my life. I can pack according to outfits, I can keep underwear in one section and smart clothes in another… at the end of the trip I can separate washing and make my life so much easier for when I get home. It’s such a space saver and something I’m kind of ashamed it’s taken me this long to discover.
Separate skincare and makeup
It might seem a little excessive to bring two makeup bags – but trust me, separating your makeup and your skincare keeps me so much better organised. I used to have such a huge mixtures of makeup and skincare scattered across the hotel room and I could never find what I was looking for – now I keep my skincare in a separate bag and that always stays in the bathroom so I always know where everything is.
