You guys all know what a huge lover I am of luxury and especially pre-loved luxury. Many items in my collection are pre-loved and have comes from many different places. As someone who has been building my collection in many different ways, I thought I would share my top tips for when it comes to buying pre loved luxury so that you can add those items into your wardrobe at a better price point and give an item a new, loving home.
Create a wishlist
One of the most important things is to know exactly what you’re looking for. I find browsing on pre-loved luxury sites is much harder than new retailers and can be a little overwhelming. The thing you really don’t want to do is make impulse decisions that you’ll later regret. Create a list of what you’re looking for.
Check the returns policy
Certain second hand retailers will not let you return an item, so it’s best to check the policy when you go to buy the item. I myself have made mistakes in the past on items that I have later decided to return and I do feel like that policy makes a big difference to my purchasing decision and might help you out not to get your fingers burnt.
Set up alerts
Sometimes there can be a really specific item that you want to get your hands on but it’s very hard to come by. That’s why I’d suggest setting up alerts so that you’ll be the first to know when the item is back in stock.
Condition
When it comes to buying second hand, the condition of the item can make a huge difference to the price. I recently got my hands on a second hand steal due to a mark on the back of the bag. The mark meant that the price of the product was much less than it would normally sell for, but was a fault that didn’t bother me at all and you wouldn’t be able to see 90% of the time. Check the condition of the item and ensure it’s what you would want it to be.
